SPUC celebrates its 10th year since inception, and this is a mile marker for a young organization like ours. Membership continues to grow, and SPUC offers a platform for connectivity, and for credible conversations around the practice of quality pediatric urgent care. Our 10th Annual conference was held in beautiful Norfolk, Virginia in April, and we welcomed a fascinating group of attendees for great networking opportunities, solid scientific content, and an informative tour of Institutional Host CHKD’s Pediatric Urgent Care department. The Section on Urgent Care Medicine (SOUCM) wrapped up another successful half day program at the annual American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition in Washington DC this past fall. Dr. Amy Pattishall (Emory University) and the education committee planned this year’s theme of ‘Keep Calm and Carry on in the Pediatric Urgent Care’. Read more…

Improving Health Equity in Antibiotic Prescribing Update

Pediatric urgent care clinicians from 30 sites in 18 states and Washington D.C. are collaborating to reduce difference in antibiotic prescribing among sociodemographic groups. The Reducing Difference in Urgent Care Encounters (REDUCE) national collaborative started in April 2023 and is led by Drs. Amanda Nedved (Pediatric Urgent Care) and Rana El Feghaly (Infectious Diseases) from Children’s Mercy Kansas City. Read more…

The Mike Moran Scholar Award is presented annually to a pediatric resident or fellow in training in the field of pediatric urgent care (MD/DO, NP, PA), with the goal of enhancing clinical research in pediatric urgent care.  

The 2024 Moran recipient is Amanda Nedved MD.

Her article is called Socioeconomic Differences in the Rates of First-Line Antibiotics for Acute Respiratory Infections: Results of a National Pediatric Urgent Care Collaborative.

Get a 10% or 15% Discount on Dues: Receive a 10% discount on member dues in the group billing program for groups of 34 members or fewer for your practice or institution. Groups of 35 or more members will receive a 15% discount.

The Society will send one comprehensive renewal notice to include all the SPUC members in your practice or institution. Contact Membership Director Greg Leasure to establish group billing for your members.
