President's Message
Greetings to all of you for 2026! We are in the throes of a robust winter, and busy dealing with the winter illnesses in our communities.
Children make up a fifth of the population in the US and we provide the necessary pediatric expertise for a significant number of them when they are unwell. SPUC brings us together, a collective of folks who aspire to promote evidence-based acute care for the kids we serve. Read more…
The AAP SOUCM continues to grow in membership across the pediatrician community. Many of the members work in urgent care systems (hospital-affiliated or private), and a growing group of members are pediatricians or APPs who work in a primary care setting where they want to learn more about acute care or have hybrid centers where they offer enhanced sick-visits or similar. Academic urgent care fellowships join the growing ranks of one-year fellowship programs to further train pediatricians entering this developing specialty as pediatric urgent care centers continue to proliferate. This month we highlight the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Read more…
There is one position on the Board of Directors that will need to be filled in the Spring of 2026. The Nominating Committee is currently working on how best to fill that position. You should expect to see more information in the coming weeks and the next board slate.

Mike Moran Scholar Award
A founding member of the Society for Pediatric Urgent Care, Mike Moran MD was a phenomenal educator who took every opportunity to guide colleagues and trainees in patient care. Throughout his career, he was dedicated to continued improvement of pediatric health care. Embracing evidence-based practice, Dr. Moran often catalyzed new innovations to improve quality and efficiency of patient care in the pediatric acute care setting.
The Mike Moran Scholar Award is presented annually to a pediatric resident, fellow training in, or recent graduate of, the field of pediatric urgent care (MD/DO, NP, PA) with the goal of enhancing clinical research within the specialty.

SPUC Group Billing
Use SPUC’s Group Billing to streamline the application and payment processes.
Get a 10% or 15% Discount on Dues: Receive a 10% discount on member dues in the group billing program for groups of 34 members or fewer for your practice or institution. Groups of 35 or more members will receive a 15% discount.
The Society will send one comprehensive renewal notice to include all the SPUC members in your practice or institution. Contact Membership Director Greg Leasure to establish group billing for your members.
Members may post career opportunities at no charge. Non-members may post job opportunities for a fee of $500 for 90 days.
