President's Message
With the new year’s arrival, I can’t help but reflect on the past and the future. In urgent cares across the country we saw a consistent return to seasonality for the infectious diseases that we see in urgent care. RSV wreaked havoc for several months and finally peaked last month in October, and the flu season will be upon us before long. As you navigate the holiday season and the respiratory illnesses that will be upon us before long, I hope that you take time for yourself as well. Read more…

Plan to arrive on Wednesday, March 12 for the Precourse Leadership Summit (1:00-6:00 pm) for important topics that include faculty and staff development, discussion about efficiency in Urgent Care, nurse-only visits, and transforming negativity in the work environment. Greetings from SPUC’s Quality Improvement/Research Committee. Welcome to 2025! We have planned a QI project to meet MOC Part 4 requirements during this calendar year. We hope this opportunity can be helpful in learning quality improvement and relieve some stress of the MOC Part 4 for you.
The title of the project is “A multicenter quality improvement project to decrease unneeded abdominal x-rays in pediatric patients with complaint of abdominal pain or constipation during visits to urgent care centers.” Read more…

Use SPUC’s Group Billing to streamline the application and payment processes.
Get a 10% or 15% Discount on Dues: Receive a 10% discount on member dues in the group billing program for groups of 34 members or fewer for your practice or institution. Groups of 35 or more members will receive a 15% discount.
The Society will send one comprehensive renewal notice to include all the SPUC members in your practice or institution. Contact Membership Director Greg Leasure to establish group billing for your members.
Members may post job opportunities at no charge. Non-members may post job opportunities for a fee of $500 for 90 days.
