President's Message
Thank you to all who joined us for the exceptional SPUC 12th Annual Conference at Seattle Children’s Research Institute in Seattle, Washington. The program had nearly 150 attendees, which is the largest attendance since returning to the in-person meeting. The program content was diverse and valuable. The poster submission overall numbers continue to grow and their quality is outstanding. In all these ways, the annual conference was a remarkable success. Read more…
The Society for Pediatric Urgent Care (SPUC) 12th Annual Conference, held March 12–14, 2026, at Seattle Children’s Research Institute, convened clinicians nationwide to advance excellence in pediatric urgent care through evidence-based learning and collaboration. The Mike Moran Scholar Award is presented annually to a provider of pediatric urgent care (MD/DO, NP, PA), with the goal of enhancing clinical research in pediatric urgent care.
Dr. Ross’s presentation was Reducing 911 Activation from a Pediatric Freestanding Urgent Care Site.
Dr. Hansen’s presentation was An INKredible Infection: A Role for Pediatric Urgent Care in Public Health. Callie Hansen MD is Board Certified in Pediatrics practicing at Children’s Wisconsin Urgent Care. Following undergrad and medical school at the University of Wisconsin, she completed residency at Inova Children’s Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. Read more…
Academic urgent care fellowships join the growing ranks of one-year fellowship programs to further train pediatricians entering this developing specialty as pediatric urgent care centers continue to proliferate. This month we highlight the APA Fellowship accreditation process. Read more…
There is one position on the Board of Directors that will need to be filled in the Spring of 2026. The Nominating Committee is currently working on how best to fill that position. You should expect to see more information in the coming weeks and the next board slate.
A six year old male presented to Urgent Care with chief complaints of fever and headache. His mother reported that he had been having fevers consistently for nine days. Other symptoms included cough and diarrhea, which had improved through the duration of his illness. On the day of the visit, he complained of headache and fatigue, and his mother reported that his appetite was poor. Read more…

Mike Moran Scholar Award
A founding member of the Society for Pediatric Urgent Care, Mike Moran MD was a phenomenal educator who took every opportunity to guide colleagues and trainees in patient care. Throughout his career, he was dedicated to continued improvement of pediatric health care. Embracing evidence-based practice, Dr. Moran often catalyzed new innovations to improve quality and efficiency of patient care in the pediatric acute care setting.
The Mike Moran Scholar Award is presented annually to a pediatric resident, fellow training in, or recent graduate of, the field of pediatric urgent care (MD/DO, NP, PA) with the goal of enhancing clinical research within the specialty.

Get a 10% or 15% Discount on Dues: Receive a 10% discount on member dues in the group billing program for groups of 34 members or fewer for your practice or institution. Groups of 35 or more members will receive a 15% discount.
The Society will send one comprehensive renewal notice to include all the SPUC members in your practice or institution. Contact Membership Director Sara Beth Stansberry to establish group billing for your members.
